Grand Cayman has two major events: the Batabano Carnival in April and Pirates Week in late October. Pirates Week is a Carnival-like celebration, when visitors and locals dress up as pirates and wenches; music, fireworks, and competitions take place island-wide.

Public holidays include New Year's Day, Ash Wednesday (46 days before Easter), Good Friday (Friday before Easter), Easter Sunday (usually Mar. or Apr.), Discovery Day (May 19), Queen's Birthday (June 16), Constitution Day (7), Christmas, and Boxing Day (Dec. 26). Tipping - Most restaurants add a 10% to 15% charge in lieu of tipping, so check your bill carefully. Hotels also often add a 10% service charge to your bill. Taxi drivers expect a 10% to 15% tip.

Liquor Laws - Beer, wine, and liquor are sold at most grocery and convenience stores Monday to Saturday (not on Sun). It is legal to have an open container on the beach.

Weather -The temperature in the Cayman Islands seldom goes lower than 70°F (21°C) or higher than 90°F (32°C). The daily average is between 77°F (25°C) and 84°F (29°C).

Passport and Visas: A valid passport is preferred from U.S., British, and Canadian nationals.
